Music Producer London
Music production in London for singers, songwriters and bands — from song development and arrangement to recording and mix preparation.
Great records are built on strong songs, clear direction and good decisions made in the room.
As a London based music producer and musical director, I work with artists, writers and musicians to develop songs, shape arrangements, plan recording sessions and guide projects through the production process.
Whether the material is already fully formed or still developing, my role is to bring musical judgement, practical experience and calm direction to the project, helping the recording to become the best version of the song.
You also have the benefit of more than 30 years’ experience working on professional recordings, from independent artists to major-label projects (see my credits here).
Who I Work With:
Every project is different, so I work with artists, singers, songwriters, bands, musicians, managers and creative teams on a wide range of recording projects – from early song development to fully planned studio sessions. This often includes:
- Singers and vocalists who want strong vocal production, song development and recording support.
- Songwriters looking to turn songs into finished arrangements or productions.
- Solo artists preparing singles, EPs, albums or other releases.
- Bands and live musicians who want an experienced producer to help shape the recording, performances and overall direction.
- Artists and creative teams choosing the right studio, musicians or recording setup for a particular project.
- Managers, labels and collaborators who need a producer or musical director with practical studio experience and strong musicianship and good creative judgement.
Music production services in London
Every project needs something slightly different. Some artists come in with a finished song that needs production, arrangement and polish. Others need help shaping the song from the ground up before recording begins. As a London based music producer, I can help with:
- Pre-production and project planning: clarifying the direction, references, key, tempo, arrangement, recording plan and overall production approach before time is spent in the studio.
- Song arrangement: help with developing the structure, dynamics, instrumentation and emotional arc of the song so it builds naturally and keeps the listener engaged.
- Vocal production: helping singers deliver their best performance. Depending on the singer and the song, this can include my input on phrasing, ideas for harmonies and ad-libs, comping, tuning guidance and vocal arrangement.
- Programming and additional instrumentation: adding drums, bass, keyboards, guitars, strings, percussion and other production elements where needed, from subtle enhancement to full track building.
- Recording vocals, instruments and bands: planning and overseeing recording sessions, whether for a solo artist, vocalist, instrumentalist or a full band.
- Editing and comping: selecting the best performances, tightening timing where appropriate, cleaning up takes and preparing tracks properly for mixing.
- Session musician arrangement: booking and directing trusted session musicians when the song needs specialist players or additional live instrumentation. Over the years, through my work as a musical director and producer, I’ve built a trusted network of A-list session musicians. When a project needs specialist players or additional live instrumentation, I can help bring in the right people and direct the session properly.
- Studio booking advice: as a music producer who has worked in many studios, I’m very well placed to help you choose the right studio for your project, budget and sound, rather that wasting money on the wrong room or setup.
- Mix preparation: making sure the session is well organised, edited, labelled and ready for the mix engineer, whether I’m mixing or handing it over to someone else.
My aim is not to force every artist through the same process. It is to work out what the material actually needs, then bring in the right combination of arrangement, production, musicianship and recording experience to get it there.
